A big bulky stroller was out as they were too heavy to lift and move around. I also rejected having a bar or tray in front as that made it difficult for a parent to get younger children in and out of the stroller, for older children to get in and out of the stroller themselves because bars/trays get in the way and not having a bar/tray allowed larger children to sit in it as there was no bar/tray to squash against them. To make up for the lack of bar/tray, I decked out this stroller with add on purchases. The research narrowed to the Ignite and the MacLaren Quest or Triumph but description information was missing so both companies were called. The Ignite manufactured by the First Year stroller company 1-800-704-8697 reclined only to 120 degrees (90 is straight up and down and 180 is horizontal) so a child is definitely more vertical than horizontal which make sleeping uncomfortable. When I called the MacClaren company to ask what the recline was on their stroller, I was told the new 2012 Quest was redesigned for infants. It reclines much further back so infants and toddlers are definitely in a more comfortable sleeping position. I didn't go with the less expensive Triumph because the back was shorter, it didn't recline as much and there was no foot extension for taller toddlers. The denim is very nice looking and it is is perfect for both a boy or a girl. It is also dark enough to hide the inevitable stains that come with children.Someone said the Quest was recalled for safety reasons so I researched that also both by googling and calling the company. The Quest is an umbrella stroller and just like all umbrella strollers, it closes with a scissor action. Sticking a finger in the closing mechanism of any umbrella stroller is not a good idea. However, caps are available for the older Quest models. The new models (2011 and 2012) have a plate over the area so there is no safety issue now. 52 of 52 people found the following review helpful. This is the first review I am ever writing but I feel that this product merits a review. I am a new mom to a beautiful 6 month baby girl. Our "main" stroller is the uppa baby vista, which we LOVE for the comfort and ride even in the non stroller friendly Manila. It's one disadvantage is its bulk so after researching extensively I narrowed it down to the Uppa G luxe or the maclaren quest. I finally decided based on the needs my baby and I had which are:a. My baby is a bit on the large side. At 6 months she is now 10 kilos (22 pounds) so I wanted a lightweight stroller which we could use for as long as possible and the 55 pound weight limit of the quest was perfect for me (5 pounds heavier than the gluxe)... There was a bit of confusion when the package arrived as it says in the owners manual that it is good up to 15kg. I emailed the company and was reassured that it can hold up to 55 lbs. Heads up to the HQ though for that, even when you convert it 15 kg is NOT = to 55 lbs.b. We live in a tropical environment and my baby is always feeling very hot. The denim cloth is the best because better than the other fabrics available she feels most comfortable even on the hottest days and it keeps her warm even when we travel to colder climates. The denim washes beautifully too. In fact, now that its had a couple of spins in the washer its softer now and even more comfy for the little girl.c. The stroller s use is mainly for travel both domestically and international. International like big cities where we have to commute using the train is perfect. its lightweight and the one step breakdown is a dream. Its also narrow enough to fit into tight spaces. For our domestic travel (usually to the beach) its also wonderful and easy enough to maneuver even on the unpaved streets etc.d. Sadly Philippine public bathrooms are not up to international standards, so I wanted a full recline so that in case we needed to change nappies we didnt have to go to the public restrooms in case were in an iffy place. I also wanted to make sure that in case we get stuck in the airport or she gets tired, she would have a comfy "baby space" that was stress free for her. She can sleep comfortably no matter what the situation is. The seat is padded enough that she feels happy in it. When we got the seat , she spent an hour happily seated on it while her nanny and I played with all the settings. It was a great sign for things to come.e. I wanted it to be lightweight and easy to fold. Although the gluxe was lighter, I felt that the 2 pound diffrenec was ok enough given the other extra features of the quest. it was a trade off I was happy to do. Her dad who does all the carrying doesnt seem to mind at all.f. The basket is small and it does get hard to get under there when shes in her full recline but for an umbrella stroller it does its job. Besides, its also taught me to bring less.g. It has a huge canopy which was super important for me as it tends to get very hot in the places we visit and my daughter hates having the sun on her face specially when shes trying to nap. Its just weird though that the denim models UV viewing window is so small and on the side... so we just learned how to live with that.h. when we are inside the mall Ive taken to removing th hood altogether as my baby loves looking up and seeing mama pushing her aoround. I guess she is so used to her vista back facing stroller so that I find works for her and were indoors anyway. I just attach on the hood (easily) when were outdoors.I am truly very happy with this stroller and think its one of the best things weve bought for our baby. With times being as difficult as it is now, its really wise to research and buy the right product. Even if this is pricier and there are many cheaper alternatives I would still buy this as its so durable and I feel she is safe in it. Thats priceless.Thank you and goodluck to the moms and dads who are researching their way into finding a stroller.
26 of 32 people found the following review helpful. After my lightweight (11 lbs) Cybex gave in to NYC Streets and beatings from gateside plane checks, we needed a new umbrella stroller.I narrowed my search down to the MacClaran Quest, UppaBaby G-Luxe and Bumbleride Flite.Very happy with the Quest. Easy fold & unfold, loads of room for my 2 year old, one hand recline is awesome. Although not the lightest (13.1 vs. the 9.0 Volo), I LOVE the full recline - worth the extra few pounds to me. My husband also thinks it is east to use.I live in NYC and have little space and time to fold/unfold/store and get my daughter in/out with bags/briefcase/groceries in hand. Even if you live in suburbia, I think this is a perfect combo of larger strollers and umbrella strollers.More info for the detail-oriented readers:--Sturdier than UppaBaby G-Luxe.--G-Luxe harder to fold and has two hand, string recline. Bulky seat padding makes it cumbersome.--Easiest umbrella stroller to navigate one-handed. Not as easy as my large Teutonia, but better than other brands in its class.--Some people think the Quest five-point harness is too hard to undo. For my crafty toddler, I rest assured she cannot undo the buckle. Sure, it's an extra 3-5 seconds to undo it, but worth the peace of mind for me.--I could not find a retailer in a 75 mile radius who carried the Bumbleride Flite and went on YouTube to find demo videos. Although it is sleek and has a few features more than the Quest (larger canopy and easier buckle), it still did not seem as user friendly as the Quest.--Downside of Quest is the canopy. Even open, it is not large and does not shift down/adjust like my Cybex. Personally, I was willing to concede on this for the full recline. I can use a muslin receiving blanket or add-on canopy for sunny days.--The Quest wheels cannot lock when in fold position, so storing against a wall is hard (not an issue if you have more space), but I do not mind this for the features it affords my daughter.Happy stroller hunting!
